At Hone Training, our goal is to make pricing clear, fair, and aligned with what each engagement actually requires. We consider the outcomes you’re looking for, the scope and complexity of the work, and the professional expertise required to deliver it well.
We begin with what you want to be different as a result of the work, then design and price the engagement around what it will take to achieve that outcome well.
The questions below are ones we hear most often from executives and senior leaders, as well as HR, People & Culture, and Learning & Development professionals looking for a clear understanding of how our pricing works.
How much do you charge?
There isn’t a single rate that applies to every engagement. Pricing will depend on factors such as the scope of the work, level of customization, delivery complexity, organizational context, and what will be required to deliver the engagement well.
Hone is not positioned as a low-cost training provider. Our fees reflect the experience, professional judgment, thoughtful design, and quality of facilitation we bring to the work. Once we understand what you’re looking to accomplish, we’ll provide a clear investment upfront and explain what’s included.
Our goal isn’t to be the cheapest option. It’s to make sure the work is worth the investment.
Can you work within a defined budget?
Often, yes. If you have a defined budget, we’re happy to discuss it early in the process. Where the full scope doesn’t fit the available budget, we’ll look at ways to adjust the scope, format, sequencing, or level of customization while protecting the quality and outcomes of the work. Our preference is to design the right engagement for the available budget rather than simply reduce the fee without changing what is being asked of the work.
What does the fee include beyond the time in the room?
An engagement with Hone isn’t simply a block of facilitation hours. Depending on the work, it typically includes:
- Understanding your organizational context, objectives, and desired outcomes
- Professional judgment about the right approach for your situation
- Proven frameworks, tools, and assessments where appropriate
- Thoughtful design and customization for your audience
- Experienced facilitation
- Application to your organization’s real context
- Appropriate follow-through and support
Understanding what’s included helps clarify why two engagements that look similar on paper — a full-day workshop, for instance — can represent very different levels of preparation and professional judgment behind the scenes.
What’s included in the quoted price?
Every quoted price includes discovery and preparation, tailoring of relevant content to your organization, facilitation, standard pre-session consultation with your team, and routine post-session follow-up. You’re not billed piecemeal for normal planning conversations or brief email exchanges — that’s part of how we work with you, not an add-on.
We want you to be able to have the conversations necessary to make the engagement successful without wondering whether every email or routine planning call will generate another invoice.
What factors affect the fee?
Several factors shape the fee for any engagement, including:
- The scope and format of the engagement (e.g., a single session versus a multi-part program)
- The degree of customization required — configuring existing, proven content versus designing something original for your organization
- The complexity of delivery — group size, interactivity, and logistics
- The organizational context, level of responsibility of the participants, and stakes associated with the work
- Whether the engagement requires one facilitator or a co-facilitation team
These factors are assessed together to arrive at a clear investment that reflects the requirements of the engagement.
What if I need something beyond the original scope — like a formal report, executive briefing, or additional analysis?
Substantive work beyond facilitation, such as formal written reports, thematic analysis of participant input, executive-level findings and recommendations, or additional stakeholder consultation, is scoped separately from the core facilitation fee. This ensures that work receives the dedicated time and professional attention required to do it well.
Is there an advantage to engaging Hone for a longer-term program?
Yes. Where a program involves multiple sessions or a forward commitment, we look for genuine efficiencies — shared discovery, reusable design, consolidated planning — and reflect that in an overall program investment. Repeat delivery of a similar program is generally more efficient than several unrelated engagements, and we price accordingly.
Does the organizational context or audience affect the pricing?
Sometimes. The same topic can carry very different requirements depending on the organizational context and the people involved. An executive-team intervention, for example, may involve greater organizational stakes, additional stakeholder consultation, different preparation, and a facilitator with significant executive-level experience.
Audience seniority alone doesn’t determine the fee. We consider the overall context, expectations, complexity, and importance of the engagement.
How does pricing compare between virtual and in-person delivery?
The expertise, preparation, and facilitation quality are the same regardless of format, so we don’t apply a blanket discount for virtual delivery. What does change is travel: virtual delivery naturally reduces the overall cost because there’s no travel time or expense involved.
Depending on the engagement, virtual delivery may also require additional design to create meaningful interaction and participation. For that reason, delivery format alone doesn’t determine the professional fee.
Do you offer different pricing for nonprofit or community organizations?
Yes. In some circumstances, Hone may offer intentional community or accessibility pricing where it aligns with our values and the nature of the engagement. This isn’t an automatic discount category, but something that we’re happy to discuss where appropriate.
How do you ensure pricing is consistent?
We use a consistent pricing framework across engagements, considering factors such as scope, customization, delivery complexity, organizational context, and facilitation requirements. That means similar engagements are assessed using the same principles, while recognizing that two organizations asking for a similarly titled workshop may actually require very different work.

How is travel handled?
Reasonable travel time and expenses are itemized transparently and separately from the professional fee, so you always know what you’re paying for and why.
